What do we mean by driving traffic to your website?

Savvy marketers are in constant pursuit of new and creative ways to get new and existing customers to visit their website.
‘Driving traffic’ means you are creating opportunities for your website to be reached.

One can drive traffic to your website by taking advantage of newsletters, social media and blogging.

Using newsletters to drive traffic to your website:

Firstly, no one wants to be bombarded with a newsletter that is too long or too busy.
When compiling your newsletter ensure that you have posted all your articles to your blog.
Adding relevant links (URLs) to your newsletter is the easiest way to drive traffic to your website. Use a summarised version of your article in your newsletter – just enough information to create interest, once the reader is intrigued they can click on the ‘read more’ link which then links the reader to your website/blog. Do the same with images.

My biggest tip for getting more traffic to your website is social media.

This includes Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Google+. Experiment to see what social media platform is beneficial to your business then start setting up social media pages/profiles. It is easy to manage and one can measure the results. Twitter is a hugely useful marketing tool as it is so easy to share and ‘retweet’ links and pictures from a website. Alongside your twitter account you can also use TweetDeck in which you can flag keywords such as ‘pattern’ or ‘design’ and any tweet on the subject will be fed directly to your deck so you don’t miss anything.

Today if you are not on a social networking site, you are not on the internet. It’s just because social media has made a fundamental shift in the way we communicate with each other.
Benefits of Social Media to your business includes:

The opportunity to begin listening to what others are saying about your business online.
Allows you to have one-to-one communication with your customers/clients.
Gather feedback about your products and services.
It personalises your business.
Offers opportunities that will bring exposure to your business.
Provides potential opportunities for word-of-mouth about your business.

Let’s get your business on the social scene!
